Our Purpose

Tactex works on two fronts. We provide statutory coverage for Site Senior Executive (SSE), Quarry Manager (QM) and Statutory Supervisor (S26) to keep operations running. We provide technical and operational consulting to help sites plan, run and improve. Both services are complementary, drawing on the same hands-on experience, that delivers real operational-value.

We work alongside site teams to keep operations safe, compliant and productive, whether that means filling a Quarry Manager vacancy at short notice, supporting an autonomous haulage rollout, or undertaking a operational performance and benchmarking audit.

Everything we do is grounded in two decades of hands-on experience across open-pit and underground operations in Australia, Africa, South America and Asia. You get practical help from someone who has done the job, not theory from the sidelines.

Huw is a mining professional with 20 years of experience across Australia, Africa, Asia and South America, covering exploration, drill and blast, grade control, mine scheduling, operations and integrated planning. He holds current WA statutory appointments as Site Senior Executive (SSE), Quarry Manager (QM) and Statutory Supervisor (S26).

He has managed production and maintenance at one of Perth’s largest aggregate quarries, established mine-rail-port planning on a greenfield iron ore operation in West Africa, and authored industry best-practice guidelines for autonomous haulage and drilling. He sits on the steering committee of the Global Mining Guidelines Group’s Autonomous Mining Working Group.
